Well it's August, and that just means one thing - the Unity Walk for Parkinson's. 

Australia’s Unity Walk for Parkinson’s will take place SIMULTANEOUSLY on Sunday August 30 at Sydney Olympic Park and Melbourne’s Federation Square. The walk supports the 80,000 Australians who have Parkinson’s disease, the 2nd most common neurological disorder in Australia.

The Unity Walk was first established in New York in 1994 with a turnout of only 300 participants. Sydney’s inaugural Unity Walk, which took place in August 2008 and spanned 4km around Sydney Olympic Park, attracted in excess of 1,000 participants and raised in excess of $100,000.

As a result of this success and to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Parkinson’s organisation in Australia, the Unity Walk will this year be staged simultaneously in Australia’s two largest cities. Proceeds from the event will go towards research into the disease and to support people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers.



Fundraising efforts begin before the walk and there is a magnificent prize in each state for the highest fundraiser comprising five days and 4 nights in beautiful Hawaii courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii Tourism and the magnificent Outrigger Reef on the Beach Hotel on world famous Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. There is also a fantastic prize of a catered corporate box at either the G or ANZ Stadium for the top corporate team of fundraisers.
