NSW Premier Minns honours healthcare pioneers at My Guardian 10th Anniversary event

My Guardian, a leading provider of aged and disability care services, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a prestigious annual dinner at the Four Seasons Grand Ballroom in Sydney on Friday 26 September. The event will bring together 400 community leaders, healthcare professionals, aged care workers, disability advocates, government representatives, and industry partners.

The Hon. Chris Minns MP, Premier of New South Wales, will join My Guardian Founder and CEO Jad Haber to acknowledge two extraordinary individuals whose groundbreaking contributions have shaped the future of care and compassion.

Professor Les Bokey AM will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his pioneering role in establishing surgical robotics and healthcare automation in the public health system, ensuring access for disadvantaged and diverse communities. His translational research has improved survival and reduced recurrence for innumerable cancer patients.

Community Champion – Gwenda Darling

Gwenda Darling will be recognised with the Community Champion Award for her unwavering dedication and decades of advocacy. Her instrumental work in shaping healthcare practices and inspiring ongoing innovation has left a lasting legacy in building a more inclusive community.

The event also marks a decade of My Guardian’s dedicated service in delivering high-quality aged and disability care across New South Wales.

Jad Haber, Founder and CEO of My Guardian said, “We are proud to have provided 10,000 Australian families with 12 million hours of personal and quality care over the past decade. We have stayed steadfast in our mission to improve the health care experience for all Australians and have successfully done so in New South Wales. Our 10-year anniversary is a celebration of everyone who has supported our mission in the community and across the sector.

“As we look ahead to the next 10 years, we hope to expand our impact across the country and support more Australians who need and deserve quality health care, raise awareness about the importance of accessibility in our society and find work opportunities for Australians living with disabilities.”

My Guardian will formalise a partnership with The Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes. This collaboration will accelerate the translation of cutting-edge medical research into practical care solutions, directly benefiting My Guardian’s participants through evidence-based innovations in aged and disability care delivery.

The second partnership to be formalised involves the Heart Research Institute (HRI). HRI is an internationally recognised cardiovascular research institute delivering groundbreaking research focused on the heart and broader vascular system.  This partnership will focus on driving awareness and support for the research of HRI and enhancing cardiovascular health outcomes for My Guardian’s participants, addressing one of Australia’s leading health challenges in community settings.

Haber said, “These strategic partnerships represent My Guardian’s commitment to evidence-based care and enable us to continue being at the forefront of translating medical breakthroughs into real-world benefits for the communities they serve.”

Of the partnership, Simone Proft, CEO, from Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research said, “We are immensely proud to partner with My Guardian. This collaboration represents a natural alignment between our commitment to advancing medical research and My Guardian’s dedication to delivering exceptional care. Together, we can bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world care solutions that directly benefit patients and their families.”

Professor Andrew Coats AO, Scientific Director & CEO, Health Research Institute said, “We are proud to partner with My Guardian as they celebrate a decade of exceptional service to the NSW community. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for Australians and people globally, and this collaboration will enable us to continue to further extend our research impact beyond the laboratory and into the homes of those who need cardiovascular care and support. Together, we can work toward delivering on our shared vision of creating a future where cutting-edge research translates into better health outcomes for all.”

The evening, hosted by Channel 9’s Jayne Azzopardi, will reflect My Guardian’s mission, bringing together and connecting community leaders, healthcare professionals, and advocates who share a commitment to transforming the care landscape in Australia.
